This story was inspired by some paintings by Makoto Aida, though I the time I saw them I didn't know that he had a back story to go with them. It took me awhile to finish writing the story because while I had a good science fictiony idea, I still needed to figure out what the heck the story was about. Even when I figured out that it was actually a story about confronting impermanence, it still took me awhile to get my creative mojo going enough to finish writing it. But, here it is. Since my carpal tunnel syndrome is giving me trouble lately, I wrote most of this using voice recognition software, so while I made an effort to check things there could still be some errors here and there. This is basically a first draft too, so I need to sit on it a while and maybe get some feedback to figure out what to do with it from here.

O_O oh man.. that was disturbing in a really good way. I think you've got a 1984 on your hands here.
... I'm gonna go pet my cat and try not to think about how many years he has left.

Very nice topic. I really like this idea, and I can honestly see this as not being too far-fetched.

I guess part of my attraction to this is from my Bioethics class, though. ^^; But, still, nicely done!

This is a very interesting topic. I like the story and your writing style is easy to follow and kind of addictive. Leaves me wanting more. Keep up the good work.
